Skilled Mechanical Fitter

We are currently looking for a Skilled Mechanical Fitter with a strong mechanical background to join a growing team, assembling patient critical equipment for the medical/pharmaceutical industry.

As part of this skilled team, you will have the opportunity to drive the success of an integral business function, which in turn, will make a positive impact on our organisation.

This is a permanent, full-time role but part-time would be considered.

Location

Our clean, bright 63,000 sq.ft site in Heywood, Lancashire is the largest containment factory in the North West, just minutes from the M66 and M62. We have invested £1m in our facility, with state of the art machinery and great staff facilities including showers, canteen and plenty of on-site parking.

Your Role

As Skilled Mechanical Fitter, your role will include:

  • Using static machinery, battery powered tools including drills and general hand tools.
  • Working in a safe manner, achieving a high level of quality
  • Notifying the team leader of any shortages in regular materials used
  • Completing projects successfully and following instructions from your manager
  • Working with other teams to minimise delays and meet high standards.
  • Assembling a full range of metalwork enclosure products manufactured by the company.
  • Ensuring all test certificates and serial number logs are completed and kept up to date.
  • Some travel to work at client sites across the UK, to fit and install the products.
  • Liaising with the tradesman and contractors at client sites as required.

About You

The ideal candidate should come from a strong mechanical background and preferably be familiar with working to a very high standards in the aerospace, nuclear, medical, or pharmaceutical sectors.

  • It’s essential to have previous mechanical assembly experience.
  • A City & Guilds, NVQ 3 or equivalent is ideal but not essential.
  • You will be required to travel to do ad-hoc installation work and will require a valid driver’s licence (company vehicle is supplied for work purposes).
  • Experience in working with and understanding detailed drawings.
  • Previous experience of working to processes and defined quality systems.
  • Working to high levels of accuracy and standards of finish.
  • To be able to work independently and as part of a team.
