We are currently looking for an Electrical Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer responsible for leading the electrical design and delivery of standard and bespoke containment and clean air equipment. The person in this position will work closely with the engineering team to create and develop the electrical schematics, functional design specifications, and PLC programming for machinery to be installed in highly regulated medical and pharmaceutical industries.

Our clean, bright 63,000 sq.ft site in Heywood, Lancashire is the largest containment factory in the North West, just minutes from the M66 and M62. Your Role
As an Electrical Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer , you will report to the Head of Manufacturing & Engineering and have a key role in the electrical design of high value capital projects for blue chip clients from concept to completion.
Key accountabilities/responsibilities:
- Create and develop detailed electrical design schematics of standard and bespoke machine designs for containment, aseptic, and sterile applications
- Take ownership of the electrical and software design requirements from product concept through to delivery with the project team
- Create electrical wiring schematics and instrument schedules
- Produce the Functional Design Specifications for new products
- Production of HMI and PLC software design
- Produce Bills of Materials to provide accurate and detailed specifications for procurement via the company MRP system
- Support pre-FAT and FAT activities where necessary
- Support field-based engineers on site in the UK and abroad where necessary
- Work closely with others in the Engineering Team to help develop new products for new and emerging markets
- Work closely with the Sales Team to offer concept design solutions during quotation and tender process
About You
To join us, you will need:
- Proven experience as an EC&I Engineer, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a regulated industry
- Demonstrable experience producing detailed electrical design schematics and drawings
- To be ideally qualified to minimum HNC level, but demonstrable experience will be strongly considered
- Proven experience in working on projects from concept to completion
- Experience of Siemens TIA Portal highly desirable
- Experience using PC Schematic desirable but not essential
- Experience producing Functional Design Specifications which include control philosophies highly desirable
- To be a team player who works well within a group to meet key project deliverables
- To be a strong problem solver with a good attention to detail
- The ability to plan, schedule and coordinate effectively
- To be self motivated, with a strong results driven approach
