Our extensive range of products includes negative pressure containment isolators, sterility isolators, vertical and horizontal airflow cabinets, microbiological safety cabinets, fume cupboards, glove boxes, containment booths and air showers.

We are currently looking for a full time Trainee Factory Testing Engineer to join us in Heywood working within a small team, to test finished products to legal, customer and company specifications and standards.

Your Role

As the Trainee Factory Testing Engineer, once fully trained, you will:

  • Provide full testing and validation of finished products for hospital, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and industrial applications on the following equipment:
  • Microbiological Safety Cabinets
  • Horizontal Laminar Flow Cabinets
  • Vertical Laminar Flow Cabinets
  • Positive and Negative Pressure Isolators
  • Glove Boxes
  • Powder Control Booths
  • Fume Cupboards
  • Downdraft tables
  • Bespoke clean air and containment devices

  • Ensure manufactured equipment meets the client specification and is compliant to the applicable guidelines, national and international standards, as well defined customer specifications
  • Work to defined test protocols
  • Document test results and create reports using existing templates
  • Investigate problems and diagnose faults
  • Participate in multi-team design reviews to make suggestions and offer advice about products and manufacturing processes in order to improve products or to resolve problems / issues
  • Schedule and coordinate work to tight deadlines
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal engineering and operations teams and with external customers, where required
  • Support the development and implementation of best practice across the business

About You

To join us, you will :

  • Be a proven engineer, qualified to BTECH / ONC level in an engineering discipline, with previous “hands on” engineering experience
  • Be familiar with ISO 9001 Quality systems
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess an ability to work well under pressure, with excellent ability to self manage to ensure you meet key targets and goals
  • Possess good IT and analytical skills
  • Have a capacity and desire to learn and develop on the job in a thriving production environment

Experience of the following is desirable but not essential, as full on the job training will be given.

  • Working under GMP conditions
  • Testing and certifying equipment to British, European or International Standards
  • Working with test instruments, such as photometers, smoke generators and manometers
  • PLC based control systems
  • Pneumatic systems utilized for automation and sealing
  • Airflow and pressure measurement
  • HEPA filter testing
  • Leak testing, identification and resolution
  • IIE 18th Edition
  • Executing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) protocols
  • HVAC Systems
  • Control and Instrumentation systems
  • Calibration of systems and instruments
  • Laboratory type bio medical equipment
